What are Bioidentical Hormone Pellets?
The hormone pellets are the size of a grain of rice and are placed into the body fat, releasing tiny and regular doses of hormones into the body, maintaining correct and natural levels. The hormones are derived from an ingredient found in many vegetables, particularly yams. Bio-identical hormone pellets come in various strengths from a highly rated commercially licensed compounding pharmacy. The pellets dissolve naturally in 3-4 months for women and 5-6 months for men.
Pellet implantation for hormone replacement has been around since the late 1930s. However, their popularity has increased in the last ten years. Bio-identical hormone pellet therapy uses hormones extracted from natural plants to replicate the body’s normal hormone levels.
Unlike creams, patches, pills, and other methods of hormone replacement, hormone pellets dissolve slowly over time, providing your body with a steady stream of hormones over several months. This is the most consistent form of Hormone Therapy.
Bio-identical hormone pellets have been around for over 80 years and are supported by hundreds of studies. They are very protective and safe.
Other benefits hormone therapy can help with are:
- Higher bone density
- Lower chances of cardiovascular disease
- Lower chances of Alzheimer's / Parkinson's
- Lower chances of Type 2 diabetes
- Lower chances of Breast cancer
Regain your health, vitality, and vigor. Age healthier and live happier.
Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy Process
The hormone pelleting process begins with obtaining a full medical history to see if you are a candidate for pellet therapy. Once you have consulted with the Nurse Practitioner and confirmed that pellet therapy is right for you, we will design a hormone optimization care plan for you that includes blood work, pellet therapy, wellness coaching, nutritional guidance, and supplement recommendations for the best outcomes of your treatment.
Your hormone therapy will begin with a blood draw here at our clinic. We take a full panel including hormones, liver and kidney function, thyroid function, anemia and nutrition, prostate for men, cardiac health panel, and a diabetes panel. You may go to your own lab or we can draw your blood here at Nuimage.
If you would like to use labs from your own provider, let us know and we will send you a list of the tests that we need. Once your labs are finalized, you can send us a copy to nuimagemd@gmail.com or they can be faxed to (619) 260-1798.
Lab results are merely a guide for hormones but not an absolute. Hormones fluctuate throughout life, but studies show higher levels are optimal in order to promote new bone growth, and prevent heart disease, and cancer.
Once we receive blood work and all forms are completed, we can schedule your initial treatment. The nurse practitioner will review labs and paperwork in-depth during the initial procedure to determine hormone dosing. We help you keep track of your weight, body composition, and nutrient deficiencies. Post-procedure, patients should not exercise for 3 days or perform any movements or tasks that use the glutes. Avoid activities such as baths, pool, jacuzzi, or ocean. You can shower normally.
After every pelleting, we will schedule you for a 10-weeks blood draw to retest your hormones following your hormone procedure. These are partial labs and test only essential hormones and thyroid if you have been prescribed thyroid medication.
It is essential for women to take their progesterone as prescribed to avoid any unwanted side effects, such as breakthrough bleeding, sleeplessness, mood swings, and more.
Hormone levels are not permanent, they will decline with time and eventually go back to low baseline levels.
After each treatment, a repeat pelleting appointment should be scheduled 3 months out. For men, we can do it every 3 or 6 months.
