Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy Process

Dr. Deborah Wainwright will be your hormone therapy provider. She earned her MSN, FNP degree from George Washington University in 2014 and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University in 2017. She is an ANCC board-certified nurse practitioner and also holds ABHRT hormone certification through the Academy for Preventive and Innovative Medicine.

Your bioidentical hormone replacement therapy begins with a telehealth consultation with Dr. Deborah Wainwright, DNP, APRN. Your comprehensive medical history questionnaire will be carefully reviewed to determine if bioidentical hormone therapy is indicated for you.

Following your first visit with the provider, a specific set of labs will be ordered. Your blood draw can be scheduled at our office or a Labcorp location of your choice. Your first initial consultation and hormone evaluation will follow 1-2 weeks later. If you would like to use labs from your own provider, please let us know and we will send you a requisition form outlining the tests that we require prior to treatment.

During the 60-minute initial consultation, your labs will be carefully reviewed and your medical history/symptoms discussed in-depth. Dr Wainwright will provide expert guidance regarding any markers that may be out of range, and how to correct those imbalances and deficiencies. After the visit, you will be prescribed bioidentical hormones (pellets or creams) and professional-grade supplements to optimize your overall health and hormones.

Every 3-5 months, a follow-up panel of labs will be ordered to determine your dosing for the next treatment. Follow-up consultations are 30 minutes and labs will be discussed followed by a possible adjustment to your hormone creams or change in the dose of pellets.

*Please keep in mind that we will not accept outside labs completed prior to your consultation with Dr. Wainwright.*

*Due to time and space limitations, spouses and other family members will not be permitted in the treatment room during consultations.*

Patients should not exercise for 3 days or perform any movements or tasks that activate the glute such as squats or lunges post-procedure. You will also avoid activities such as baths, pool, jacuzzi, or ocean for 5-7 days, and you can shower normally.

If you would like to learn more about what bio-identical hormone pellets please refer to the next section.

What are Bioidentical Hormone Pellets?

The hormone pellets are the size of a grain of rice and are placed into the body fat, releasing tiny and regular doses of hormones into the body, maintaining correct and natural levels. The hormones are derived from an ingredient found in many vegetables, particularly yams. Bio-identical hormone pellets come in various strengths from a highly rated commercially licensed compounding pharmacy. The pellets dissolve naturally over several months.

If Dr. Wainwright determines that pellets are not suitable for you, she will prescribe you an equivalent dose of hormones with custom compounded hormone creams.
